FUN WITH FANON
One of the great extracurricular pleasures of Lost is enjoying the art and craft of Fanon, the fictions and gifs and videos and photo manips created by fans to rewrite and revise Lost into something entirely original. And there's one group of fans whose work I particularly enjoy. Their work is perhaps a little limited in focus, but it's no less prolific or creative for that one minor flaw. I'm speaking of course about that energetic group of standard black thread collecting, guava seed planting, Jate-tube watching fans known as The Jaters. And their even more singleminded sisters, known to themselves as The Hussies, obsessive lovers of all things Foxy. These girls are busy! So before it all gets drowned out in the roar of the season, I'd like to use one day of our Countdown to have an Art Appreciation day for all the hard work of these wonderfully devoted fans.
The Jaters are lovers of fine art.
They're also practitioners of pop art. Flavored with fine, fart-based wit.
Jaters know how to turn their Kate Hate into cartoons!
And they can even find a way to bring that infamous Jatey Sado-Masochism to Lego Land!
They continue to use art to search for the proper metaphor for Jack's extraordinary penis.
Some are into political art.
The pure creativity inspired by Jate incorporates the musical spectrum from 2001 A Space Odyssey all the way to Benny Hill!
And there's nothing to stop a little wish fulfillment, when an artist has such a versatile pallette.
Luckily, there's an endless supply of sexy scenes where Kate's head can be pasted in place of ... some skank's.
Hell, even human anatomy is not a barrier to the pure unfettered creativity inspired by Jate!
Ok, Ok, I'm done. No offense intended to our creative Jate sistas. I admire all Fanon artists, and I just wanted to make sure all this work didn't get lost in the tide of geekery that's about to engulf us. Keep it up, girls! It will be awhile but I'm sure we'll get a chance to catch you up later. We look forward to seeing what you come up with in Season Five!
