More Stirring of the Shipper Pot

Oh great. Carlton has been out visiting his local Chains R Us store to get some new links to jerk shippers around. First we get all the "definitive emotional choice" stuff which devolved into "the triangle is still a go" and now "Jack and Kate are kind of the ultimate relationship." "Kind of"? What the hell does that mean? Either they are or they aren't. Or is this like being kinda pregnant? Or kinda dead?

And ultimate? In what way? Like Luke and Leia's bond of blood was so strong in Star Wars they could sense each other and shit? Imagine that kinda whammy being dropped on the show. "Jack...Claire's not your sister...I am." "Noooo!!!!!!"

Or did he mean 'ultimatum'? Jack's the type to be issuing out those by the bucketful, for sure.

With all the stuff Carlton and Damon have been saying, and the flipflopping back and forth it's impossible to figure out what's true and what isn't. Anything they say is best taken with a grain of salt...preferably around the rim of a maguerita glass. Mmmm, tequila.

The 'Kind of' Ultimate Relationship

So, can anyone tell me which picture do YOU think should be chosen to pimp the essence of Jate in TVGuide if their 'ultimateness' ever comes to fruition. Read more...

More Than Meets the Eye

Skaters and Jaters never seem to agree on anything, but I think we can agree on this: we are all confused as hell about what’s going on with Jack/Kate/Sawyer. Here’s my take on it.

We have had hundreds of thousands of years of collective interpretation of what a couple in love looks like. We “know” it, not intellectually, but on a much deeper, perhaps even cellular level. We know it and respond to it, whether it is real or acted, because our cues come from movement, expression, etc.

That's why we all, without exception, responded to Danielle's look at Alex the same way. We "know" what a mother's love for her child looks like even if we aren't mothers or don't have children. It's part of our collective genetic make-up.

So, what we have been shown, without any conflict, is what we understand on the deepest level of our being to be love between Kate and Sawyer.

We "know" what we've seen is love, which is why Skaters and Jaters alike respond to it on such a primal level.

Enter "intellect": Jaters don't want what they've seen to be real, so they call up every intellectual reason why it can't be in order to negate their visceral reaction to it--"manwhore", "dick", "cage", "rutting", "pity sex". If they can put enough negative words on it, they can erase the inescapable feeling that the scene generated.

Skaters also have a intellectual disconnect. We have seen what we have been genetically programmed for 10,000 generations to know as love, and yet we are being told that it isn't really love at all.

That's where, for me at least, the sense of betrayal, of conflict, of confusion and of anger stems from. With nothing more than a word or two in a script recap, I am supposed to deny everything evolution has programmed in me to understand about pair bonding, relationships and love in order to see what those same hundreds of thousands of years of evolution have programmed to understand as belittlement, betrayal and subjugation as really being love.

The basic reaction to all of this has been anger...on both sides. We are both experiencing the same thing on the completely emotional level, but the Skaters are suffering in the conflict between word and action, while the Jaters are suffering to try to make the word trump the action.

Skaters are angry because we have been told we can't trust the very thing that evolution has designed us to trust--our collective understanding of what male/female love is supposed to look, sound, feel, etc. like.

And Jaters are angry because in season one they got the precursors to that pair bonding with their Jack/Kate interactions.

Wherein lies the rub...in their minds, Jaters took what were the early stages of possible romantic flirtations

and mentally transformed them into full blown expressions of love. In their minds, the relationship had already progressed to love--even though it was never shown, or tangibly expressed. So, when the "real thing" was shown, Jaters were upset because they had already imagined and invented the consummation--even though it never happened. Emotionally, for Jaters, Jate love had happened because they had imagined it to have happened. In their minds, their invention took on all the substance of reality.

However, for Skaters, the expressions of love were actually shown and expressed. Then, when we were told that what we saw wasn't real, didn't happen and couldn't be trusted, we reacted with anger as well, because that's not what we "knew" had occurred.

This leaves us with the gaping chasm of confusion on both sides. Both Skaters and Jaters "believe" that we have seen full-out expressions of love. The problem for Jaters is that, because they have merely invented their consummation, they now have to inflate what are essentially non-sexual actions (i.e. hand holding and iris-penetrating looks) into more than they really are, in order to keep their beliefs alive. For example:

Compared with

We are hard-wired to see touching as a sign of intimacy, but not when it's awkward and forced.

Only when it is natural and gentle

The problem for Skaters is that we have actually seen the consummation of love and now we have to try to rectify what we "know" with what we are apparently being told by the writers. We have to deny actual sexual intercourse, post-coital cuddling and expressions of love in order to try to understand how none of that may have had any meaning.

The result is complete confusion on both sides...and the usual reaction to confusion is anger. Hence both Skaters and Jaters are completely pissed off--at each other, at the writers, at the characters, at the SHOW.

The Only Way Kate is Choosing Jack

This clip from the CES is cute and pretty funny. I love that Kate and Sawyer are being marketed as THE couple of the show. So darn natural, walking side by side, all smiley and flirty as per usual. But well dang it, she chose JACK after all! What a fickle hussy. *snicker*

Looks like we have an answer to that possible spoiler about Kate shouting Jack's name loudly and waving out towards the ocean, huh? My money's on this being the Kate/Sawyer scene that 'friend of a Jater who was vacationing in Hawaii at Christmas' caught a glimpse of being shot. Read more...

Random Bubble Quote of the Day

Saved for posterity. Poor Gregg gets hounded by a salivating jater. No doubt the news of an extended uncut version of Skate's hot and loving sex scene on the season 3 DVD's has some Bubbleheads all in a tither and feeling gipped. Of course, it got deleted frakking quick. Too bad, I am sure Gregg and TPTB would have had a good laugh at it. Who needs ambassadors for Jate (like the Fuse is some kind of whacked out United Nations where we all have to lobby for our causes?) when you can have these kinds of morons representing them? What's this poster looking for? High definition Mavie Porn? Sounds like a Mavie fan to me. Hey, guys, you get skank sex with MF aka Chimp-chest and Bai Ling aka Freaky alien-chest. Be thankful you got that much. Did some digging. Seems this poster has only posted questions to Gregg on behalf of Jaters. Smells like a fake ID to me. 'Fess up, Bubbleheads, who's the puppeteer behind this idiot?

Remember to SHOW jate sex (when the time comes)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, this isn't exactly a topical issue considering how far apart Jack and Kate are at the moment but I've been so disappointed with many tv-shows/couples and since Lost is starting to include sex on the island... I might as well get this off my chest, So if you could pass this on to TPTB that when the time comes (whether it's this season, next or whenever) we want to SEE the jate sex Call me kinky or whatever but I just don't want you guys to think that just because J/K are this emotional, spiritual, real adult kinda love for us jaters, we wouldn't bother not seeing the physical... - connecting. Because WE DO! We wanna see it.

And by seeing I don't mean a little bit of kissing and then fade to black. And since Lost switched to a later time slot... Okay, I think you get what I mean. The thing is that in my opinion many tv-shows have made the mistake to let The Couple (I know, I know... What makes me think that Jate is the main couple Well, to me it is so let's just not go there now) sleep with other people and then eventually bring them together and not SHOW the love... Maybe because they think The Couple is just so powerful on its own that there's no need to show that. That the audience is so happy and relieved to finally have them together so seeing the physical consummation is just unnecessary. But it's SO NOT LIKE THAT!

My point is that we jaters just want eventually get back what we invested in those flirty/sexually charged scenes. After the sighing and moaning in the net and all those I'm-so-checking-you-out looks both the jaters and J&K themselves deserve some ACTION!

I know I'm early with this (I have a feeling the writers don't want Kate to get it on with two different guys during the same season...) but early bird catches the worm, right? I just hope the writers could keep this in mind while planning future events and what to show onscreen. Because no one can deny that with Matt & Evi's acting skills/chemistry and Jack&Kate's relationship history the jate love scene could easily be the most beautiful and passionate moment ever...

Thanks for reading! This just is important to us and wanted you to know that.

Just so we're clear...

Here are some pics from that wonderful sexually charged moment of Jate-Net-Love. Much touted as the epitome of Jate hotness, and err sighing and moaning...apparently

Ooooh, yeah, baby. They're really having sexin' fun there.

As opposed to the freaky boy and girl monkeys. Shame! Dirty! Icky!
