I suppose I can relate. I do a weekly blog on the show, myself, and I'm not really that excited to do this episode. The Hurley character has seriously begun to irritate me since the ghost stuff.

Unless you have a real reason not to (like life getting in the way) in which I totally understand... why not do a recap!? People come here to read your recaps and theres so few episodes left!! You seem to have a sort of distaste for this season or atleast the last few episodes you can use the recap and explain why. I for one am loving this season and enjoyed the Hugo episode greatly. By saying you'll pass on this week without giving a reason seems like this episode was not even worth your time to talk about it. Anyways like I said if you have a life reason then I completely understand but if not...

Yeah, Fish, why not do a recap? It's not like it's your life and your choice to do whatever you want with your time. This Mike dude wants the chance to sit in judgment of what you think. Just wondering Mike. how much are you paying Fish that gives you the right to make demands on her?

The Fish has a busy real life. She can't dedicate all of her time to Lost and it isn't like she's under any obligation to do so. If she needs to take a week off now and then, then she chose a good week this time.

Hopefully next week, she won't even want to pass on a recap ...no matter how full her weekend is.

Thanks for letting us know not to expect a review for this one Fishbiscuit. Look forward to your next one all the more ...enjoy your weekend!

I've been checking here all week and now I find that my checking has been in vain. Bummer.

Well, why not discuss the episode here, even though there's no recap. For instance:

It appears that Hurley didn't get a reflection in this episode. I haven't rewatched, yet.

How about it appearing that Widmore is trying to find the frozen donkey wheel, and if so, why does he want to find it? Just what does he plan to do if he does? [This seems to be the reason Zoe was asking Jin about all the pockets of electro magnetism and why she wanted the locations. If so, it appears Widmore doesn't realize it's underneath The Orchid, which seems strange because Ben knew where the FDW was located. Or is he looking for something different?]

Why did alt Desmond run down Locke? My personal opinion is he did it because he thinks Locke is the MIB. Of course, alt Desmond isn't going to get his happily ever after with Penny, cause Ben knows he ran down Locke, so Desmond's going to rot in prison for attempted murder. No jury is going to go easy on Desmond because he's got a nice Scottish burr, because he didn't just run someone down, he ran someone down that's already in a wheel chair.

my theory: after desmond hit locke with his car, locke will be taken to the hospital where jack shepard will be treating him. Jack will remember giving Locke his card and offering to help him with his back. Jack will "fix" Locke so he is no longer handicapped. Locke won't press charges on Desmond because he is able to walk.

hahaha I'm really not demanding anything of Fish in the least, all I'm saying is her post seems to indicate that she just doesn't want to do one which is disappointing because I also check here everyday after the episode airs to see if her recap is up because I'm a fan maybe not a kiss ass fan like midnight hahaha (I'm joking) but yeah...

You should probably take a few weeks pass, will do you wonders. But please do come back for a recap of the series finale. To be honest, I've been reading Ack's recaps these last few weeks, she's a LOL-machine and well, I guess hers will have to do. Your work is more philosophical in nature, so I won't try to compare.

I feel that hurley is a big part in this show, probably as big a part as Desmond. I could really use a recap and others views, especially on Desmonds purpose in running over locke... is he taking the place of Jacob in the current time line or something? I don't know, this season is the first to actually kind of confuse me.

Personally, Hurley has always bored me to tears and is doing more so now he's the faux leader and ghost whisperer. I also wonder if Jorge Garcia wasn't buddies with Darlton if he have such a big part on the show as he does now?

Personally, I wanted Michael's ghost to ream Hurley out about lying to Walt, so Walt will be waiting for the rest of his life for his father to come one. Bet Hurley would be whining his head off if someone had made him think Libby was alive when she's really dead.

If Walt goes back to that island looking for his father it's going to be all Hurley's fault and anything that happens to Walt if he comes back to the island will also be all his fault.

I feel somewhat guilty that my first post in your comments section is to express my disappointment when the overwhelming majority of my experience here has been so enlightening and positive. I feel compelled, however, to say that I am quite disappointed. You're a brilliant writer Fishbiscuit and there's no other review that I look forward to or depend upon more. I can only assume that you are disappointed in the show and in this episode in particular, that perhaps its simply osmosis at work here. I hope that's the case rather than anything more serious interfering on your time and attentions. And as long as I'm posting, thank you for all of your witty, intelligent, entertaining and insightful word smithing thus far for which I will always consider myself a fan.

Kinda sucks. I love reading your recaps. I appreciate your written word about LOST more than any other on the internet. You never did a recap for Dr. Linus as well.

Regardless, I appreciate you and all the time and insight you put into writing about this beloved show. Hope everything is okay, and if you just need a week off then you need a week off. This guy isn't going to make a fuss.

Just want to echo many of the comments above. I enjoy these recaps more than any of the others out there (Doc Jensen, Vozzek, RobZ, all of which I think are quite good), and I'm sorry to not see one this week. However, I can't exactly complain about not receiving something that Fishbiscuit provides for free. Hope we see more in the future, though.

Fishbiscuitland is part of the Lost Blogging Collective - although no-one out there is anywhere near as good as FBL, perhaps you will find something there to help pass your time.

Here is the latest list of LBC blogs,

http://superduperstream.blogspot.com/2010/03/new-lost-blogging-collective.html

And here are some discussions the LBC takes part in,

I hope you find something of worth in amongst that lot :) I recommend Sagacious Penguin, Not Confused Just Lost and Vozzek69 as good starting points.

Also, SockeRock, nice catch about Hurley's reflection. I'm SURE I saw one, but searching the web, I can't find any reference to it. To be fair though, he was caught in the Lighthouse mirror (my, that seems like a LONG time ago), for whatever THAT means.

Hope to read one of your fantastic write-ups next week!
I haven't commented here before but your blog is one I check almost every Friday and weekend for updates. It's true what the others have said - while other writers are good in their own right, your entries are definitely the best I've read.

Hope everything's ok!

Omg... Widmore knows exactly where the damn Orchid is. Remember Keamy and the secondary protocol. Bandwagon fans.

If she is too busy to do a recap that's her dammed business.

If she is so annoyed with this season and that shit episode to do a recap then I totally agree.

Anonymous said...

@ SockeRock :
Hurley is the comic relief of the show, grow a sense of humour.

Jorge Garcia has a blog @ http://dispatchesfromtheisland.blogspot.com/ . Why don't you go voice all of your criticisms of him there instead of doing it here like a coward?

Michael kiled Libby, so I don't think he's in any position to ream Hurley about anything. And you really want Hurley to tell a 13 year old Walt that Michael died in a freighter explosion? And that he killed two women in cold blood? You're an inconsiderate cynical bag of douche. If you're so displeased with the show, stop watching and let the rest of us enjoy it.

That's what I have to say about them all this season--- nothing. There's just not much to talk about or think about anymore in these episodes. I should be poring over blogs, forums, podcasts all week, but I can barely bring myself to check maybe here and one forum to see if I might've just missed something of interest.

So I personally thank you for not filling a post with recap blah with nothing insightful to say.

Wait...Fish is a chick?

It has seemed like you're becoming disenchanted with the show, Fish. I thought ELH was a fantastic episode, but if you didn't, I'm guessing you're not going to like the rest of the season, either. Still, I hope you can find the time to share your thoughts. Maybe I'm wrong and you liked this episode and just didn't have time to write, but it sounds like you're dismissing it as not worth your time.

Hi, Fish, I love your blog, and really look forward to it. I hope you were having too much fun to post and not for some other unfun reason. I especially appreciate your writing after reading some of the other stuff out there!! Hope to see you back soon.

I would have liked to read your thoughts on yet another "true" or "spectacular" couple reuniting in the alt and getting their memories back while together.

Especially since it hasn't happened with Skate. But maybe you didn't post anything precisely because things seem to be going in the way you didn't want them to. Jack/Kate and Sawyer/Juliet being destined and Sawyer/Kate being wrong.

Anonymous said...

Kate's a whore, and has ruined the life of every man she has ever slept with on this show. She's a poorly written character that is poorly performed by Evangeline Lilly. Why you people keep pining for her is beyond me. Ana Lucia and Shannon are my favorite female characters on the show. Too bad they both got shot to hell.

Anonymous said...

Sawyer spent 5 seasons in love with Kate. His story always heavily revolved around her...but yeah Juliet is his destined woman. Since they were together for half a season and broke up because of his feelings for Kate.
Yup, makes sense to me!

@ the anons whom r talking smack abt skate and kate, srsly rly???

Jack/Kate + Sawyer/Julz r destined for what? blasting bombs to rid their pasts? have their couplings in ruins? have nothing left to wreck? hook up in the AU? whaaaaat?

Kate being a whore wow? I knew of kate hate but WOW WOW WOW, she didn't ruin Sawyer's life-she actually kinda inspired him to want his humanity back and broke his walls that would have otherwise prevented any sort of relationship with Julz, and Jack has been ruining his own life. He tried to save kevin from a life of shame and ridicule, u can blame her for Tom. And also I shouldn't have taken u srsly when u mentioned shanon being ure fav character, but I've already wasted my energy doing this.

Also Fish missing the recap but alas I look forward to your next one!

Fish - I tend to agree with you 98% of the time. But The Last Recruit was a great episode as far as I'm concerned.

I hope you thought so to

I just worked it out.

I've probably said that a hundred times before after watching this show but now i'm used to the format, used to the script style and I just finally saw the light.

Now i understand why fish hasn't recapped this week, she's figured it out too.

Now that it's so near the end, like a dickens novel, all that remains is to tie up the loose ends. The story was always going to end this way, now it just has to do that in as efficient and beautiful a way as possible.

I've been reading this blog since the start of season five, and It's been entertaining, enlightening, critical and fair to the show, but Fish has always paid a reasonable and eloquent respect to the show as a phenomenon.

It is my humble assertion that Fish didn't blog last week because she doesn't want to spoil the ending for those who haven't seen the light yet. I think it's a sensible decision.

Although it pains me to say so- I shan't revisit this blog now until the end, to find out if i was right or not. Needless to say, I am sure whatever you write, Fish, it will be thoroughly enlightening.

But not too thoroughly.

so long, and thanks for all the fish
